Expected DA - NFIR view

Expected DA from January 2012 : Central Government employees and pensioners are getting additional Dearness allowance twice a year, payable from 1st January and 1st July. For this year 2012 the first installment of additional Dearness allowance will be declared by second week of March 2012 by the Finance Ministry.

The National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) has expressed his thought about the expected additional installment of Dearness allowance on its website.

They said that the Dearness allowance is likely to rise by 7% or even more from Jan 2012. The total DA is expected to be 65% or more as per the calculations derived after AICPI figures given to end of November 2011".

DA IS GIVEN TO OVERCOME INFLATION, ALTHOUGH IT IS GENERALLY LESS THAN ACTUAL RETAIL INFLATION. WHY SHOULD IT BE TAXED. THE NET DA IN HANDS FALLS FURTHER. CAN SOMEONE JUSTIFY DA TAXTION

You are absolutely right when you say DA is to compensate inflation .But as regard taxation please do note that as per the pay structure defined for the Govt.Employees having several components to it which as a total sum is termed as SALARY under a certain budgetary head and since it becomes part of a salary receipt and not to be considered independent of the pay structure .........it is liable to be taxed in terms of the Income Tax Rules .Therefore it is to be taxed save for the TA amounts received by the employee which is exempt

let any thing be given as a alms to salaried/pensioned class the IT is very prompt.can u imagine buisiness class people and certain community people in in kerala amasses richness without limit and beyond imagination. fake notes real estate, political coverage from cetre and state to certain communitis in kerala and their land deals are kept blind to IT
