INCREMENT CALCULATION FOR CG EMPLOYEES

How to calculate annual or promotional increment for Central Government employees as per 6th CPC..?

The logic is very simple, but everyone should know about the procedure of calculation.

We explain with some illustrations...
The increment is an increase in pay for each year in a particular date. As per 6th CPC the annual increment has been granted on 1st July of every year and the qualifying period for earning an increment is six months on 1st July. One increment is equal to 3% (three per cent)  of the sum of the pay in the pay band and the grade pay will be computed and rounded off to the next multiple of ten.

"As per the Rule No.13 of CCS(Revised Pay) Rules 2008, “In the case of calculation of increments under the revised pay structure, paise should be ignored, but any amount of a rupee or more should be rounded off to next multiple of 10".

To illustrate, if the amount of increment comes to Rs.1900.70 paise, then the amount will be rounded off to Rs.1900; if the amount of increment works out to be Rs.1901, then it will be rounded off to Rs.1910.”

And finally the increment amount will be added to the existing pay in the pay band.

For example :
An employee's pay in the pay band is Rs.10,230 and his grade pay Rs.2800, his basic pay = 10,230 + 2,800 = 13,030

His increment will be calculated as follows...
13,030 x 3% = 390.90
after rounded off to ten, it will be Rs.390 only.

Whereas, the another employee's pay in the pay band is Rs.10240 and his grade pay Rs.2800, his basic pay = 10,240 + 2,800 = 13,040
His increment will be calculated as follows...
13,040 x 3% = 391.20
then it will be rounded off to Rs.400.

But increment date depends on promotion date. Sometime it is so that he gets increment+ news grade pay on the same day but sometimes it is not.
Explain this also.

An increment is rise in pay after rendering 12(Twelve)months service at a particular stage of pay (This is about the rule and not the exception or provisos)Person who retires after rendering 12 months service on the last day of the month is not allowed increment as he is not in service on the first of the following month. This in my openion is injustice. Is there any case where redressal is sought for in such issue either from DOPT or judiaciary? If yes what was the outcome.

Hi friends,
I had a small query about calculation of advance increments. 5 non-componded advance increments are given to holder of PhD degree in ICAR/UGC. As per CCS (Revised Pay) Rules 2008, Rule 9, "the rate of increment in the revised pay structure will be 3% of the sum of the pay in payband and gradepay applicable, which will be rounded off to the next multiple of 10."

My query is that whether this rounding off will be on 1 increment or sum of all increments.

For example if rounding is on one increment: One increment = 21600 * 0.03 = 648 = Rounded to 650; 5 non-compounded increments = 5 * 650= 3250; Final basic = 15600+ 3250 + RGP 6000 = 24850
For example if rounding is on final amount: One increment = 21600 * 0.03 = 648; 5 non-compounded increments= 5 * 648 = 3240 (No need to round off as already multiple of 10); Final basic = 15600+3240+RGP 6000 = 24840

Do anyone of you have the idea how rounding off will be done?
Best regards,

my query is regarding the meaning of non-compoundable advance increments and their calculation. In ICAR a person with Ph.D is given advance increments. I want to know how they are calculated and then after the calculation of advance increments how the pay is fixed. Whether the Advance increments are calculated on Basic Pay+Grade Pay or just on the basic pay? Secondly, are the advance increments added to the basic pay +grade pay and then allowances are calculated on them to calculate the final pay. Please clarify.

As per the council letter No.F.No.1(1)/2009-Per.IV(I-4) dated February 15, 2013 (copy enclosed), the advance increments which added due to higher qualification are to be treated as basic pay for all purposes. The basic pay means your RGP+15600+advance increments(one increment=3% of RGP and 15600). Your pay will change every july Ist after adding annual increment.

Dear friends,
I will be greatly benefited if any body could send me a copy of the ICAR order i.e. F.No 1(1) 2009 - Per.iV(1-4) dated February 15.2013. I searched in the ICAR website circulars, but no such order was available. My email ids are beherak@rediffmail.com & kshirasagarabehera@gmail.com. Any other circular related to pay fixation based on non compounded advance increments for higher education will also be help. Thanks.
