Introduction of Hospital Patient Care Allowance and Patient Care Allowance for specified Group C&D (non-Ministerial) Railway employees working in Railway Hospitals and Health Units/Clinics

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of the following :

(i) Hospital Patient Care Allowance for categories of Group C&D (non Ministerial) employees working in Railway General Hospitals (those with 30 beds or more) and Super speciality railway hospitals (those with 10beds or more) And

(ii) Patient Care Allowance for the Group C&D (non-Ministerial) Railway employees working in Railway Health Units/Clinics, Railway General Hospitals having less than 30 beds, and Super-Speciality Railway Hospitals having less than 10 beds subject to the following conditions :-

(a) Hospital Patient Care Allowance shall be admissible at the rate of Rs.700 p.m. & Rs.695/- p.m. in respect of the identified Group C&D (non-Ministerial) categories of Railway employees, respectively. Patient Care Allowance shall be admissible at the rate of Rs. 690/- p.m. in respect of the identified Group C & D (non Ministerial) categories of Railway employees.

(b) Night Duty Allowance and Risk Allowance, if admissible to the categories of staff identified for grant of Hospital Patient Care Allowance/Patient Care Allowance would cease to the admissible from the date of introduction of Hospital Patient Care Allowance on the Railways.

(c) The orders in this regard would have prospective effect i.e. the 1st of the month in which orders are issued by the Ministry of Railways.

With this decision the demand for introduction of this allowance on the Railways demanded by the Staff side would be met.
