No Decrease or Increase in Retirement Age – Centre clarifies No Plans to Reduce Retirement Age – Centre clarifies The Centre has clarified in the Parliament that there are no plans to reduce the retirement age for Central Government employees. The Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh had said this via a written reply to a query in Rajya Sabha yesterday. The Minister has already clarified that there are no plans to increase the retirement age to 62 in Rajya Sabha on 11th December 2014. This puts to rest speculations that had been making the rounds for a number of weeks now.

Retirement age issue echoes in Parliament Revision of retirement age topic echoes also in Parliament today. Dopt Minister replied in a written form to a question asked by the members of Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Dr.T.Subbarami Reddy and Smt. Ambika Soni in Rajya Sabha today. Minister said that there is no proposal under consideration of Government to reduce the retirement age from 60 to 58 years for its employees.

Dopt orders on alteration of date of birth of a Government Servant – reiteration of the instructions. Rule 56 of Fundamental Rules states that except as otherwise provided in the rule, every Government servant will retire from service on the afternoon of the last day of the month in which he attains the age of sixty years. Provided that a Government servant whose date of birth is the first of a month shall retire from service on the afternoon of the last day of the preceding month on attaining the age of sixty years.

A popular English daily reported on the 28th of last month that the Central Government is giving serious thoughts about reducing the retirement age of its employees. The news has created a big buzz among the employees working under Central Government. It was said that the proposal is part of the Government’s strategy to reduce non-plan expenses. It was mentioned that a senior official said that the move will help giving employment opportunities to new people under the new recommendations to be suggested by the 7th Pay Commission.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM Subject: Payment of Death Gratuity to a minor — regarding In accordance with the existing instructions, the payment of a portion of death gratuity could be made to the guardian, in the absence of a natural guardian, without production of a guardianship certificate. As per the existing orders, an amount of Rs.10,000/- (or the first Rs.10,000/- where amount exceeds Rs.10,000/-)in favour of a minor could be made to his/her guardian, in the absence of a natural guardian, without production of a formal guardianship certificate but subject to production of an indemnity bond.

A Special Recruitment Drive for filling up the backlog of persons with disabilities has been launched in November, 2009. The Drive was concluded on 31.03.2012. As per the information received from the 73 Ministries/Departments there were 6003 backlog vacancies, out of which 2388 have been filled up.

Expected Dearness Allowance from January 2015 for Central Govt Employees and Pensioners, almost confirmed 6% increase… Expected DA from Jan 2015 is on fourth step, no change in the index of CPI(IW) for the month of October 2014, stands at 253 only. Increase in Dearness allowance for Central Govt employees and Pensioners from Jan 2015 is likely to be 6% and the total Dearness allowance will go up to 113%.
