Submission of Fake Caste Certificates - 832 appointments were allegedly secured on the basis of fake/false caste certificates Information about appointments secured on the basis of fake/false caste certificates is not centrally maintained. However, the Central Government had undertaken a one-time exercise to collect information about appointments secured on the basis of fake/false caste certificates in the year 2010. As per information received from various Ministries/Departments etc. 1832 appointments were allegedly secured on the basis of fake/false caste certificates. Disciplinary proceedings had been instituted in all the cases. It was reported that out of the above 1832 cases, 276 had resulted in suspension/removal etc, whereas 521 cases were entangled into litigations and in remaining 1035 cases disciplinary proceedings were pending.

Central Government approved 6% DA and DR to CG Employees and Pensioners from Jan 2015 Finally yesterday afternoon only, the Union Cabinet gave its approval to release of an another additional Dearness Allowance with effect from 1.1.2015 to Central Government Employees and Pensioners.  According to the DA Calculation recommended by the 6th Pay Commission, Central released 6% of additional Dearness Allowance / Dearness Relief over the existing of 107% of the Basic Pay / Pension with effect from 1st Jan 2015 to CG Employees / Pensioners. Now, Central Government employees as well as pensioners are entitled for DA/DR at the rate of 113 percent of the basic pay with effect from 01.01.2015. The arrears for three months from January to March 2015 will be paid after the formal orders issued by Finance Ministry.

Delay in Announcement of DA Hike from January 2015 Since the implementation of the recommendations of the 4th central pay commission in 1986, the announcement of approval and the order for granting Dearness Allowance to government employees were issued in March and September itself until it was violated once under UPA regime. In 2013, the approval for granting DA hike due from January 2013 was delayed inordinately. All the central government employees had waited patiently up to 31st March 2013. Even 1st and 2nd week of April 2013, there was no signs announcing the DA hike by the Central government. Then, the federations like AIRF and Confederation of central government employees and workers have raised objection over the inordinate delay of announcing DA. And they wrote letters to the Central Government to declare the Dearness Allowance immediately to avoid the confrontation.

Cabinet may approve 6% DA on Thursday The Union Cabinet approval for the 6% rise in the Dearness Allowance for the Central Government employees is expected to be announced on coming Thursday. It is a well-known fact that every six months, the Central Government increases the Dearness allowance for its employees during the months of January and July. The increased amount is calculated on the price index (CPI IW BY 2001=100) of essential commodities. Rise in the Dearness allowance is being calculated on the basis of the changes in the prices of the essential commodities during the periods between January and June and the period between July and December.
